From the  gallery’s press release

Land Fall Variations  is a suite of medium and large-scale drawings using charcoal and conte on paper. These powerful images are a development of the artist’s field studies of the coastline made on recent visits to the western seaboard – Valencia Island in Kerry and the north coast of Mayo in particular

Drawing is an essential part of his practice and an important element in the process and development of his painting. Throughout the 1980’s, Teskey’s work was drawing-based and he has had several important solo exhibitions of drawings. In 1991, the Arts Council funded a nation-wide touring exhibition of his drawings with a catalogue. That show was launched from Limerick City Gallery of Art. It is significant therefore that Limerick City Gallery is the venue for the exhibition of new paintings (‘ Tidal Narratives’, 15th September – 30th October 2005) which will run simultaneously with the Drawing show. Gandon Editions will be publishing a book on Donald Teskey to accompany this exhibition.
